Bethany UMC is actively involved in meeting the needs of our community through our association with various groups such as G.U.E.S.T. (Gloucester United Emergency Shelter Team), the Laurel Shelter, Samaritan Group, and other service organizations. As stewards of God’s provision and grace we strive to care for others and for the environment, improving the quality of life in our corner of the world and beyond.
Many of Bethany’s community-related activities are listed in our Sunday bulletin, monthly newsletter (The Banner), and on our calendar of events.
In 2017, sixty-five families from Bethany United Methodist Church, Gloucester Point, donated over 2,000 pounds of items that were distributed to the Salvation Army, Laurel Shelter, Union Baptist Church food pantry, G.U.E.S.T. (Gloucester United Emergency Shelter Team) program, and Bread for Life. Reverse advent calendar bags were distributed to church members prior to the beginning of December. Families added one non-perishable item a day to their bag each day during Advent to be given to those in need in Gloucester County.
